2007 NSF Nanoscale Science and Engineering Grantees Conference

The NSF Nanoscale Science and Engineering (NSE) grantee conference highlights the research and education activities of ongoing NSE grant projects. Roundtable discussions promote new interdisciplinary partnerships and identify future directions for research, education, networking, business interactions, environmental health and safety, and societal impact. These interactions help to advance the goals of NSF (www.nsf.gov/nano), the U.S. National Nanotechnology Initiative (www.nano.gov), and the 21st Century Nanotechnology Research and Development Act.

The sixth wave of grants from the NSF NSE program were awarded in 2006 (NSF 05-610) including 38 Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team (NIRT) grants. These grantees make presentations to the NSE research community in the second year of their grants at the 2007 NSE grantees conference. This proceedings book contains research project overviews and nanotechnology highlights describing some of the latest research and educational advancements in Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

On Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 the conference provides an opportunity for broader networking with the nanotechnology projects and programs of other federal agencies including NIH and NIST. The final day of the conference will focus on Nanotechnology in the Environment.
